We Help People Find Their Voice at the Negotiation Table

Built from real conversations, tested in actual deals, refined through hundreds of client outcomes

Most people freeze when money gets mentioned. They accept the first offer because pushing back feels uncomfortable. We started Vireocitra in 2019 because we kept seeing talented professionals leave thousands on the table—not from lack of skill, but from negotiation anxiety that nobody ever taught them to manage.

How We Actually Started This Thing

Callum Veenstra was sitting in a café in Dubbo when a friend asked him to role-play a salary negotiation. She had an offer but felt sick just thinking about the conversation. After twenty minutes of practice, she went from "I'll just accept whatever they give me" to having a clear strategy.

Two weeks later, she got an extra twelve thousand in base salary. She told three friends. They each told others. By mid-2020, Callum was running informal workshops out of a shared office space.

What started as weekend help sessions turned into structured programs when we realized the pattern—smart people weren't lacking information, they were lacking practice in uncomfortable conversations. Now we work with individuals and corporate teams across regional New South Wales, teaching skills that actually show up in bank accounts.

What Guides Our Work

These aren't mission statement buzzwords. They're the decisions we make when teaching gets difficult.

01

Practice Over Theory

You can read fifty negotiation books and still fumble when your boss asks about salary expectations. We build skills through repetition and feedback, not lectures. Every session includes scenarios that make your palms sweat—because that's where learning happens.

02

Honest About Limits

Negotiation training won't turn you into a different person overnight. It gives you tools to work with who you already are. We focus on incremental improvements and realistic outcomes, not personality transformations or miracle results.

03

Regional Context Matters

Dubbo isn't Sydney. Negotiation dynamics shift based on market size, industry norms, and local business culture. We teach strategies that work in regional Australian contexts, where relationships often matter more than aggressive tactics.

How We Build Negotiation Confidence

A structured pathway from initial discomfort to practical capability

1

Baseline Assessment

We start with a conversation about your current negotiation experiences—what's worked, what hasn't, where you typically struggle. No personality tests or abstract frameworks. Just identifying specific situations where you want different outcomes.

2

Controlled Practice Scenarios

You'll practice negotiation conversations in low-stakes environments before facing real situations. We use role-play that mirrors your actual circumstances—same industry, similar personalities, realistic constraints. The goal is building muscle memory for uncomfortable moments.

3

Real-World Application Support

When you're preparing for an actual negotiation, we help you develop specific language and backup plans. After it happens, we debrief what worked and what to adjust next time. Learning continues beyond the classroom through ongoing refinement.

Why Our Method Works Differently

Most negotiation training focuses on tactics—anchoring, BATNA, strategic concessions. That stuff matters, but it's useless if anxiety shuts down your thinking when the conversation actually starts.

We spend more time on the psychological side. How to notice when you're about to accept a bad deal just to end discomfort. How to sit with silence instead of filling it with concessions. How to separate your self-worth from the negotiation outcome.

The technical skills come easier once you can stay present during hard conversations. That's why our programs emphasize repeated exposure to negotiation pressure in safe environments—building tolerance before stakes get real.
